Project Engineer

The Company

The Torftech Group of companies develop and sell the Group’s patented technologies to the food, mineral, chemical, environmental and energy process industries. More than 180 plants have been installed around the world for ‘blue chip’ international companies and corporations.

The Group is expanding its small team based at Thatcham in Berkshire UK with the addition of a full time Project Engineer.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Project Engineer is a key player in our project execution, being experienced in equipment fabrication, assembly, commissioning and maintenance.

The following activities are a guideline;

  • EH&S compliance
  • Responsibility for fabrication, commissioning and maintenance associated with TORBED reactor systems and their application as well as associated components including fans, burners, heat exchangers, filters, conveyors, instrumentation, valves and piping and duct systems.
  • Responsibility for generating documentation and procedures including schedules and fabrication, commissioning and maintenance strategies.
  • Analysis of contract data to understand what is needed to achieve the required performances, specifications in a timely manner.
  • Management and coordination of fabrication and installation activities, on site and in the workshops, to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Coordination of operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of TORBED systems.
  • Evaluation of field installations and recommendation for design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Support of local Services on troubleshooting, repairs and warranty issues resolution.
  • Technical training delivery when needed.
  • Site Surveys.
  • Direct communication with Customers on site.
  • Sales support when needed.
  • Support in operating and maintaining pilot plant.
  • Project co-ordination.
  • Support for costing of contracts
  • Participating in the team meetings to share best practice.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Engineering background (electromechanical background preferred but not essential).
  • Industrial boiler, burner, furnace process knowledge useful.
  • Experience working as a Project Engineer.
  • Fluent spoken and written English. Other languages an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attitude.
  • Basic Knowledge of mechanical and electrical installation activities.
  • Must have ability to understand information from different engineering disciplines.
  • Strong organizational, communication, PLC, controls and PC skills are required

This position requires
  • frequent travel and occasional 1-2 weekperiods out of the office and overseas.
  • ability to travel and work in construction and industrial environments.
  • ability to read, analyse and interpret common scientific and technical documents/drawings, P&IDs, ladder logic, electrical schematics.
  • ability to respond to common enquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • ability to document, organize and catalogue technical information including calibrations, start-up parameters, field verifications, site observations, and requests for clarifications.
  • Independent decision making when appropriate.
  • Ability to handle client interface with diplomacy.
  • Excellent communication skills.
Salary and Benefits

An above average salary will be paid to the right individual, expected to be in the range £35,000 to £50,000 depending on experience.
