A few weeks ago, we shared a picture of a TORBED calciner being delivered to site. Here is another part of the same plant: a sixteen tonne twelve metre tower which forms part of the new plant’s heat exchanger being prepared for its journey to the same site in Northern France. This high-temperature, dirty-gas-stream gas-to-gas heat exchanger is a derivative of one that has been operating successfully in tandem with a TORBED processor for some 20 years. It will recover process heat from the TORBED calciner, facilitating the production of a low carbon cement substitute in an energy efficient manner. Another illustration of the TORBED processor’s role in thermal mineral processing, facilitating a circular economy, taking waste and creating a useful product efficiently.
