Industrial gas scrubbing was one of our earliest applications, with the first dry gas scrubbing pilot plant being installed in 1991 and the first commercial plant in 1996. It encompasses extremes, accounting for the smallest and largest commercial TORBED processors sold. We have designed processors to deal with highly abrasive reagents. We have also designed processors fabricated from specialist alloys to deal with corrosive gases. Gas scrubbing is also the first step in any carbon capture and storage process.
The latest TORBED gas scrubber, supplied as a part of the paper sludge treatment pilot plant (see news items “Paper sludge treatment” and “Assembled and ready to start”) will remove CO2 from a mixture of air and process gases. Another TORBED processor “doing the hard yards” of de-carbonising foundation industries.
